The official minutes of the SVBMWR Meeting - submitted by Marie Lubbers

The meeting:

November 14, 2009 meeting minutes

The meeting was held at the Four Points by Sheraton in Saginaw during our annual banquet and election of officers.  Those in attendance were:

Mark Wiley & Tish Markowicz, Rich & Connie Yerman, Dave & Susan Rudzki, Blane & Lynn Kamp, Pat & April Blackman, Rick and Sam Wilder, Jim May & Ann Butzler, Jerry & Marie Lubbers,  Renee Wilde & Marsha (sitting in for absent Bob), Eric Krentz and Rich Best.

Paul and Susana Roznowski were unable to attend as Paul had surgery earlier in the week and is recuperating.  Sharyn Best was unable to come as she was tending to a sick daughter at home.  We wish them both a speedy recovery.

Secretary’s report:  Marie Lubbers read the minutes from the last meeting on 9/23/09.  They were approved as read.

Treasurer’s report:  Patric Blackman stated we have a balance of $1104.06 in our account with this banquet not yet paid for.  Ten members have already paid their 2010 dues at $5.00 each.

Old Business:  The tentatively scheduled bonfire at Jerry and Marie’s has been cancelled.  September or October of next year seems to be a better choice of time for this type of event and we can discuss it then.

New Business:  Jerry mentioned a letter he received from the Chartered Club coordinator at BMW MOA for a change in venue that would eliminate mail correspondence by having a website that membership could go to for current information.  This requires a spokesperson to fill out a form and create a password that all club members can use.  Blane volunteered to handle and will advise everyone.  Rich Yerman asked Blane to let him know when it is set up and he will make a link to it on our website.

Jerry had another letter from the BMW MOA Foundation concerning safety issue programs, such as MSF classes, awareness classes, etc., that are available for club use.  Mark Wiley said the Seasoned Rider class is a good one.  Mark will look into it and advise how it can benefit our club.

Mileage Contest:  Rick Wilder reported on his contest to determine by guessing the amount of miles we as a club accumulated from January 1 to October 31.  Ten people sent in their beginning mileage and eight sent in their ending mileage.  The total was 91,199 total miles.  Jim May came the closest with his guess of 125,000.  He won the first draw from our table of gifts/door prizes.

Election of Officers:

Jerry Lubbers was the only candidate for President and there were no nominations from the floor.  Voting was unanimous for Jerry as President.

Patric Blackman was the only candidate for Treasurer and there were no nominations from the floor.  Voting was unanimous for Pat as Treasurer.

Rich was the only candidate for Activity Director until Rich Best volunteered to do this job under Rich Yerman’s tutelage.  Renee made it official by nominating him.  He accepted and Rich Yerman rescinded his own candidacy.  Voting was unanimous for Rich Best as Activity Director.

Rich Yerman stepped up as MC in Paul’s absence with some “If We Were Giving Awards” awards.  He presented the SVBMWR Member of the Year award to a very surprised Marie Lubbers!  He cited her efforts in organizing the banquets, and saving our club some money by negotiating not to have to pay any fees for not meeting the minimum number of attendees, as well as her detailed club minutese announced the SVBMWH

.  He then said the real reason was Jerry’s full saddlebag of homemade cookies Marie always makes when the guys are heading out on a long ride!

Please see the information on the awards at the end of these minutes.

Susan Rudzki sold 50/50 tickets and $47.00 was divided up with Eric Krentz winning $23.00 and the remaining $24.00 going into our club treasury.

This is our last official club meeting until 2010.  Tech Day at Jerry & Marie’s will be our next meeting and will likely be sometime in mid-April – weather permitting.

Sue motioned to adjourn.

Here are some of the awards mentioned above:

To Rich Best for undertaking to take his bike apart to correct an ignition trigger problem, then crossing the fuel lines upon assembly.

To Pat Blackman for having the most bikes not running at the same time.

To Blane Kamp for picking an inclement weather date for his Demo Days event.  Mark related a story for the same date – while teaching an MSF class the rain was so heavy that they couldn’t see the demo ride instructor on the other side of the range.

To Eric Krentz for his infamous flat track racing.  Not only did he crash but the bike behind him ran over his head!  He invited us to all come watch him next year.

To Rick Wilder for being the hardest guy to couple up for a ride – always busy.

To Jim May for teaching Rich Yerman that too much of a good thing is not a good thing – two different GPS’s gave two different sets of directions.

To Rich Yerman, Paul & Marty from Rick and Jerry for the trip in the rain.  Rich, Paul & Marty decided at the last minute to head north to avoid the rain.  Rick & Jerry went to the Euro Rally in Kentucky as planned and had beautiful weather.  Guess who got the rain
